CAC Authority Celebrates Pastor Joseph Adelakun, Baba Ayewa as he formally Retires From Administrative duties

Pastor Joseph Adebayo Adelakun, the renowned gospel music minister and the leader of Ayewa International Gospel Music Band popularly known as Baba Ayewa, has retired from his pastoral duties at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) following his 75th birthday. Pastor Adelakun clocked the statutory retirement age of 75 years on June 11, 2024, when he was supposed to disengage from administrative duties of the Church.

To commemorate the milestone, he used his clout to bring together men and women within and outside his Church to celebrate his formal retirement from Christ Apostolic Church. His guests included the authorities of the CAC and dignitaries from all walks of life.

Part of the activities included the handing over of his church property to CAC authority. The week-long celebration also included honouring the music legend’s retirement as a cleric in CAC. CAC authority has planned a three-day revival titled Remove Not The Ancient Landmark featuring the General Evangelist of the Church, Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji.

The programme started with an open-air crusade from Monday October 14 came to a close on Sunday October to 21 with thanksgiving and appreciation service at the cleric’s Church in Akute, Ogun State.

With the retirement, he is now set to focus entirely on his gospel music ministry.

The event also featured free medical outreach and a visit to an orphanage home on Friday October 18, while the legendary gospel music icon was celebrated at a classy event tagged, “Retirement Banquet”, in Ikeja, Lagos. The programmes ended with a thanksgiving service on October 20.

The retirement which could be likened to the special Pull Out Ceremony of military officers was a high honour to Pastor Adelakun who was also a member of the Nigerian Army.

Shaki born Pastor Adelakun celebrated his 75th birthday on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. The milestone was celebrated with a grand banquet at his residence, attended by friends and family.

Present at the colourful events were the President of Christ Apostolic Church (Nigeria and Overseas), Pastor S. O. Oladele , and his wife, Mrs. Susanna Oladele, joined by the General Evangelist, Prophet/Evang. Hezekiah Oluboye Oladeji , the renowned Juju Music legend turned preacher, Evang. Dr. Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, the Osile of Oke Ona, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The event in Lagos was also attended by the General Secretary of CAC, Pastor Emmanuel E. Mapur, Missions Director Pastor Caxton S. Fasuyi and his wife Mrs. J.T. Fasuyi, Special Assistant to the President Pastor T.D. Asokeji, Prophet Ade Ologbonyo of CAC Bonerges, and many others.

In his own tribute, Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji, CAC General Evangelist wrote, “I joined the principal officers of our great mission and other well-wishers to celebrate Pastor Joseph Adebayo Adelakun, popularly known as Baba Ayewa, who has dedicated decades of his life to spreading the gospel through music and unwavering faith. As he celebrates his 75th birthday, he is also retiring from his administrative duties in the Christ Apostolic Church.

“While this marks a new chapter, his passion for music and ministry remains as strong as ever. Let’s honour this spiritual giant for his countless contributions to the body of Christ. Join me in celebrating Baba Ayewa’s retirement and wishing him continued blessings on his journey.”

Also in a remark, the celebrant on his band’s social media handle wrote, “Yesterday’s Retirement Banquet was nothing short of extraordinary! Surrounded by loved ones, friends, and the CAC family, we celebrated God’s grace through 75 years of life and over four decades of Pastoral Ministry. The joy, laughter, and memories made will forever be cherished in my heart. Thank you all for being part of this special moment” showing some of the highlights of the “unforgettable day.”

“The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” (Psalm 126:3), he concluded.

Pastor Adelakun retired as the Zonal Superintendent CAC Mercy Land Unity based in Akute area of Ogun State.
