Concerns and Expectations as CAC Pastors Meet in Annual Conference

There are great expectations as ordained Pastors of Christ Apostolic Church will be meeting between Monday 22 and Sunday 28th of September 2025.
Feelers reaching PTL News confirm that the various factions of the Church would be meeting simultaneously in Ikeji Arakeji, Ikire and Ibadan, all in the South western part of Nigeria.

The most popular and the leading faction under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele who turned 70 years recently will be converging at the CAC Babalola International Memorial Camp Ground, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, between Tuesday September 23rd and Friday 26th September, 2025 under the theme Preparing God’s People for Leadership.

The second faction led by Pastor Henry Olayiwola Ojo would be meeting at Alasepe Camp ground from September Sunday 22nd to 26th, 2025, at CAC Alasepe Prayer Camp Ground, Ìkirè, Osun State in a conference tagged Shepherding The Next Generation, with the theme Leading With Integrity And Purpose.

The third faction under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Sam Ayodele as President, Pastor Alfred Mohammed JP, General Superintendent, Pastor (Prof) Ojo Ademola as General Evangelist and David Udofia General Secretary will be gathering their own members at the old CAC Grammar School, Aperin Oniyere, Ibadan Oyo State.

The three factions have similar programmes and activities in the one week gathering. Essentially they are gathered to do a review of their activities, policies and programmes in the last one year and roll out what their members are to expect in the next one year.

The conference provides the ground for the participants to meet and interact as well as to hold personal and congregational prayers for personal and corporate needs.
Despite the excitement these conferences offer to the leaders and followers, it is very clear that most members of the Church, Christ Apostolic Church are not very happy with the on going division and misunderstanding which has engulfed the church for over 30 years.
In spite of their common motto, One Fold One Shepherd, it is very clear that the Church may be one in name but it remains several folds under several shepherds.

It is the leaders that are engaged in fighting and horse trading, not the followers. Last year PTL News saw some pastors of the same Church attended the conferences under different factions. When asked, the junior pastor who was in a different faction from that of his senior pastor just casually said, ‘it was the leaders that are fighting and they have their reasons for doing so’.

With the current situation, while the actors who are the principal officers of the respective factions are enjoying their feud, many of the followers who are not very comfortable with the lingering crisis have been calling for amicable ways to resolve the crisis.

One of the factions, the Supreme Council has made public some of the several moves made by the Church authority to resolve the differences but without solution.

According to them, it’s like the difference lies in the ownership of the original certificate of registration the Church. The Supreme Council faction believes they have the original certificate which was duplicated by the other faction, and they accuse the General Executive Council of trying to relegate their leaders to the background.

The Supreme Council leaders alleged, “All efforts to reconcile and unite the church have been consistently thwarted by the leadership of the General Executive Council faction. It is a matter of record that the SC faction has actively participated in numerous peace and unification meetings, only for the GEC faction to ultimately find reasons to undermine the process.

“A notable example is the 2021 Peace and Unification Meetings held at Christ Apostolic Church, Anlugbua, Basorun, Ibadan. The progress made in those meetings was abruptly derailed when the GEC faction procured a new Certificate of Incorporation for the CAC on 4th February 2021.
“This certificate has seven (7) trustees, all of whom were members of the GEC, with no representation from the Supreme Council. This unilateral action effectively brought the peace process to a halt.

Another reason cited by the Supreme Council on the aborted peace was that while negotiation and discussion was going on, the General Executive Council went to court.

“This exercise was scuttled by the GEC following the filing of a motion on notice to amend their process in suit FHC/05/C5/77/2022. The motion on notice was filed on the 20th January, 2025 against the leaders of the CAC Supreme Council led by Pastor Henry Ojo during the pendency of the peace process.

“Through this legal action, the GEC faction aims to take control of all Church assemblies under the Supreme Council and seize assets currently managed by the Supreme Council,” the Supreme Council alleges.

While working on this report, PTL News saw a release made by the third group under the name Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, signed by Pastor (Barrister) David Udofia, General Secretary, indicating their appointment into the principal offices of the Church. They also claim to be operating with the name Supreme Council.

These are Pastor Dr. Abraham Ayodele as President, Pastor Alfred Mohammed, General Superintendent and Pastor Prof. Ojo Ademola, General Superintendent.

On the other side, the General Executive Council led by Pastor Oladele has not made their plans public but it is very clear that they are not giving up about the peace process to unite the Christ Apostolic Church once again which was one of the cardinal objectives of Pastor Oladele at the inception of his administration.

The conferences will hold as usual but it will take a special grace of God to see the different factions come together to fulfill their spiritual roles in the affairs of Nigeria.

It is believed in some quarters that CAC will be used to herald the endtime revival, but it is doubtful if a disjointed and feuding Church rooted in rancour can achieve this. May God breathe into His Church.
