Ijesaland agog as Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi Celebrates 70th Birthday

The entire Ijesa community home and abroad is in wild excitement with the celebration of one of their illustrious sons, a popular and accomplished socialite, business man and a foremost lover of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi celebrates his 70th birthday this October, 2025. Asiwaju Fasuyi turns 70 on Saturday October 24, 2025.

A week long programme of events have been released to celebrate the business mogul covering individuals, culture, groups and faith. The celebration according to organisers is designed to reflect the celebrant’s journey through thanksgiving, reflection, and celebration. Each day of the Platinum Jubilee has been planned to be meaningful, celebrating faith, culture, legacy, and impact, at the end of which it is expected to touch lives of individulas, groups and communities.


The very elaborate event will feature interfaith services such as mosque, church, and traditional worship thus offering opportunities for spiritual reflection on the celebrant’s life. There will also be an orchestral performance featuring classical and Christian folk music, emphasizing a spirit of reverence and celebration.


One of the notable highlights of the celebration is a full day event to be hosted by the Ijesa Sports Club in honour of one of its esteemed patrons. Additionally, there will be a visit to orphanages which reflects the celebrant’s lifelong compassion for the underprivileged.


A unique cultural activity of the celebration is the ‘Birthday Ayo Game,’ showcasing a cherished traditional pastime and honouring Asiwaju Fasuyi’s role in preserving Ijesa heritage.


Two public lectures are also scheduled to serve as platforms for intellectual engagement and community development. The grand finale tagged ‘Light House’ will take place on Saturday, October 25 which is Asiwaju Fasuyi’s actual birthday, capping the week-long festivities.
“The entire event is designed with a guest-centered focus, ensuring all categories of attendees from royalty and political dignitaries to grassroots supporters receive thoughtful recognition and warm hospitality,” explained the organisers, adding, “Every logistical and ceremonial detail is crafted to reflect Asiwaju Fasuyi’s values of excellence, dignity, and service.”


The programme which runs from Friday October 17 through Saturday October 25 are scheduled as follow;
It commences on Friday, October 17 with Jumat Service at Ilesa Central Mosque by 1pm; as Ijesa Sports Club Hosts the Celebrant later in the day by 5pm.


On Saturday, October 18 there will be a show of Ayo Game contest at Iwude House by 2pm. Musical Orchestra follows at Herrigan Hotel by 2pm, on Sunday, October 19.


The celebration train visits Orphanage home on Monday, October 20 by 11a.m; and a Cultural Day will be held at Oba Adekunle Aromolaran Civic Centre by 2pm.


Tuesday, October 21 will feature a Birthday Symposium and Launch of Ijesa Development Fund, a brain child of Asiwaju Fasuyi at Gold City Event Centre by 11am.


Birthday Lectures, Iwure and 9th Anniversary of Asiwaju Installation hold on Wednesday, October 22 at Zenabab Hotel by 11am.
Thursday, October 23 is dedicated for Ijesa Diaspora Day with Asiwaju also holding at Zenabab Hotel by 12 noon.
Birthday Open House holds on Friday, October 24 by 12 noon.


Special Thanksgiving Service where family, frinds and well-wishers will join the celebrant at Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Omofe by 10am on Saturday, October 25, which is Asiwaju’s birthday.


A grand reception holds later in the day at Zenabab Hotel at 1.00pm with the official Book Launch on Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi.
This milestone celebration not only honours the life and contributions of Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi but also reaffirms the deep bond between him and the community he has so passionately served.


To put together and execute this grannd and first of its type celebration, a formidable team of A-Class Planning Committee and its sub-committees has been inugurated.

Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi is a man of many parts who has touched different people and group within and outside Ijesaland. He is reputed to have scored many firsts in Ijesaland. He is the First Asiwaju of Ijesaland; the First Balogun of Ijebu-jesa; the Baba Oba of Iwaraja-Ijesa; the Baba Oba of Ilaa-Ijesa; the fourth Balogun Ijo of the 129-year old Cathedral Church Omofe, Ilesa; the founder and Chief Consultant of the 33-year-old Supreme Management Training and Consultancy Services Ltd; the founder and President of 14-year-old Ibadan Business School, Ibadan; the founder and Chairman of a 10-year-old Community Philanthropy Organization, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi Foundation (AYFF); the Patron of the First Cosmopolitan Club in Africa, Ibadan Recreation Club (1902); the Patron of Ijesa Sports Club; and the Chairman of the Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA).
