Word of Life: It Is Written ….. With Pastor Kayode Owoade

* This is a Tool for living a victorious life. It Is a weapon of attack and of defense against anything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.

— 2 Corinthians 10:3-5.

*Let’s consider Jesus’ experience:

∆ When the tempter (Devil) came to Jesus, he said:  “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

*In response, Jesus said to him:  “It is written:  ‘Man shall not live by bread alone …’   — Matthew 4:4 (quoted from Deut. 8:3).

∆ Then the devil took Jesus up into the city, set Him on the pinnacle of the Temple and said to Him: “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down.

— For It is written:  ‘He shall give His angels charge over You …'” — Matthew 4:5-6.

* Here, Satan gave a distorted version of Psalm 91:11-12;   as weapon against Jesus.

*Then Jesus fired back and said:  “It is written:  ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'”  — Matt. 4:7  (quoted from Deut. 6:16).

∆ Again, Satan said to Jesus:  “All the kingdoms of the world I will give You, if You will fall down and worship me.”

*Then Jesus fired back and said to him: “Away with you Satan! For it is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'” — Matt. 4:8-10 (verse 10 was quoted from Deuteronomy 6:13).

•Note: for every temptation set before Him, Jesus fired back and said: “It is written …”

∆  So because Satan was not able to withstand Jesus, he left Him.

* Note: if you have to use the:  “It-is-written”  weapon; you must have a good knowledge of the Bible.

* In our daily life, we are likely to encounter events that will challenge our faith in Christ.

— One of such events is: acute ailment.

* When that happens to you, say to the ailment: It is written: “Strangers (name the ailments) shall be afraid and they shall tremble out of their hidden places (in your body).”

— Psalm 18:45.

* Whenever you use the It-is-written weapon, you are using the  “Sword of the Spirit ”  which is the WORD of God. — Ephesians 6:17.

* Therefore,  we must submit to God, and resist  the devil, and he will flee from us. (James 4:7-8).

— Part 2.

* Other events or occurrences that may challenge our faith in Christ are as follows:

(1) Discouragement

A lot of things can cause Discouragement.

— e.g. personal issues, relationship issues and health issues, etc.

* Whatever it is, we must confront the cause with the weapon of :  It Is Written.

— “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, the Lord will revive me. He will stretch out His hand against the wrath of my enemies, and His right hand will save me.”

— Psalm 138:7.

•  “Therefore, do not lose heart, just believe that you will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

* It is written:  “Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.” (Psa 27:13-14)

(2) Anxiety/Worry

* It is written: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”

— Philippians 4:6-7.

* It is written:  “The Lord will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him, because he trusts in the Lord.”

— Isaiah 26:3.

•  Confront the cause of your worry and say: It is written:  “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you,

not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

(3) Depression

* Speak to the cause of your depression: It is written:  “When I pass through the waters (of life), the Lord will be with me; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow me. When I walk through the fire of life, I shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch me.”

— Isaiah 43:2.

* It is written:  “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

— Psalm 30:5.

* It is written :  “Fear not for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you (out of your depression). I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

— Isaiah 41:10.

* I pray that God will help us connect His WORD with our situation, INJ.
