How We Have been Warned But……..
Spiritual dimensions of not listening to warnings and divine instructions from the men and women of God across Nigeria are said to be part of the reasons for why the sudden attack experienced last Sunday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo Ondo State caught the Church in Nigeria unaware.
That Sunday, armed terrorists entered into the Church just at the end of the service to unleash attacks on the innocent members of the church killing scores of the worshippers.
Many people most especially pastors, prophets, anointed men and women of God had released messages of prophecies, predictions and alerts to the Yorubas to be security conscious in the scheme of things in Nigeria.
For many years now insecurity has been one of the major problems confronting Nigeria as governments at all levels are helpless about the situation.
Such messages have come in terms of direct messages, revelations of dreams and warnings. There have been some other messages released by some uninformed members of the public which should not be received with levity.
But unfortunately, both the government, the highly placed Nigerians including religious leaders did not do anything about it.
For some years now the religious crises manifesting in kidnapping, killing and ransom taking have been prevalent in the northern part of the country coming gradually to the south.
It started from Maiduguri with the Boko Haram in the north eastern part of Nigeria, before it later began to spread to the North western part of Zamfara, Kaduna and Sokoto States.
It also moved southwards to Niger, Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa with sudden incursions into Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Sometimes bandits’ attacks were reported in Kogi, and of recent the Yoruba tribe of the South west witnessed one of the most wicked attacks when a Christian Church was attacked on a Sunday at a service leaving behind worshippers that were sent to their early grave.
That this was recently witnessed may not be any surprise to many especially those who have been following and monitoring different messages and warnings about the state of the nation.
There have also been various revelations about the need to beware of cases of ethnic cleansing and attacks inspired by religious banditry.
Governors of Lagos, Ondo States Prepare – Prophet Joseph Ologbonyo
In a recently released video clip, Prophet Joseph Ologbonyo of CAC Boarnerges based in Ekiti State had specifically warned the governors of Ono and Lagos State of the presence of bandits waiting for instruction to stage deadly attacks on the states.
He said, “Governor of Lagos State, Governor of Ondo State, be prepared. They (bandits and terrorists) have filled the bush, all they are expecting is a command to attack.”
He further revealed that there was a forest nearby in Ondo State, where the terrorists were hiding.
“The forest that leads to the waterside on the way to the Eastern part, and in front of Akure that leads to Ekiti. If not you will hide inside your room and they will begin to bring you out and kill you. I am not scaring you. I am not instigating violence. I am only telling you the mind of God. If you listen, it will be good but if you call it any other thing, when it comes you will know the truth.”
The Church is Asleep – Evangelist Ojo Ade
Evangelist Ojo Ade, also mourning, drew the attention of Nigerians most especially the Yorubas to this warning alert, saying the Yorubas especially the Christians are far deep into slumber.
The gospel singer cum Church leader in his condolence message made available to the public through his social media handle called on the Yorubas to remain vigilant.
Referring to one of his songs titled Yorubas, Be Vigilant, he regretted that many Christians refused to take heed to various warning messages released to the Church by various men and women of God.
He said, “What have been said earlier are now coming true. I am in a very sad mood for what Owo has suffered. It is an attack against the body of Christ. We cannot pretend as if we are not concerned. See how many lives that were lost.
“The death that killed James can kill Peter, it is killing our Peter now. The government is saying what is expected of it, that the culprits will not go unpunished but since all these evil started we are yet to see anyone caught and punished. We have slept.
“As Church of God we cannot carry guns, bows or arrows. Are we saying prayers are no more answered? But those that think that they are above others believe they have plan B.
“It is that of the Catholic that we see now we don’t know the ones they are planning. It is a great tragedy. If government cannot secure us let us go back to our God. It is a great tragedy, killing father, mother and children. See how blood flow on the altar of the Church like water.” The cleric prayed that God would bring his comfort to the bereaved.
“God will comfort us, God will comfort the people of Owo and Ondo State. God will comfort the Yoruba generation. God will comfort the body of Christ.”
He further called on members of the body of Christ to wake from their deep slumber.
“Let us wake from our slumber so that we will not be caught unaware. We have slept. Christians arise, denominational differences would not help us. God is still answering prayers like the days of old, and God will answer our prayers. But who are ready to pray now?” he asked.
“I pray the mercy of God will not leave us. Whatever the plans of the evil ones in the secret God will fight for us. God will comfort the bereaved.”
Primate Elijah Ayodele
Adding to this is also the message of Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church.
Primate Ayodele revealed that terrorists have planted explosives in so many churches in the South West and expect Christians to brace up because the Owo massacre will be a tip of an iceberg.
‘’This attack is more than expected, and they have planted explosives in so many churches in the Southwest. This is just the beginning; if we don’t brace up while we are praying, we should be vigilant physically. This is not a religious matter; these are criminals,” he said.
‘’I wonder if the government of the day is happy about these killings, I warned against religious crisis, and this is about to happen. Lives were lost in the deadly massacre, but what can the government do than make noise?’’
The cleric urged Southwest governors to create laws that should exit herders in the zone to wherever they came from to protect citizens from their evil practices.
‘’Nigeria is on a time bomb, we must not relent, we need to be careful of this herdsmen, someone who doesn’t look like a Yoruba should not be given houses in Yoruba land again, we need to protect ourselves, this is terrible.
‘’We must not allow this satanic terrorism in our southwest states, especially in Lagos; the government needs to involve all churches in this fight against terrorism because it’s just a matter of time before it spreads here.
“Let’s cancel herdsmen in the Southwest; they are terrorists. There should be a law to cancel them in South West, they are not part of us, they are foreigners and killers, take a look at their actions in the past, terrorism is within them.
‘’We are not saying anyone should fight, there are cautions Christians need to take, we need to wake up in South West,” he added.
With all these messages and warnings, the onus is on Nigerians most especially the political and religious leaders to hear, listen and act accordingly.
