Glory be to God, the All Knowing God.

September 10, 2022 marks 28 solid years of Praise The Lord News, popularly known and called by its acronym PTL News for short.

By the special grace of God we have come a long way.

Today reminds us of our very humble beginning way back in 1993 and 1994.

While chatting with someone talking about 28 years of this beautiful vision the Lord dropped to my heart close to 30 years ago, somebody asked of what has been our achievements in PTL News. My simple answer was that we are still alive, the paper is alive and we still remain relevant in what we are called to do.

The most important thing in life is for one to have an assignment from God, and to live to fulfill that assignment, and that is my testimony.

We have every reason to thank God from taking us from our little beginning to the level we are here today.

It was a vision started with God.
When we started then, we did not start it like a business. It just started with a message, an instruction from God, and with passion we aligned ourselves into it.
I have told the story of how we started years back in some fora and platforms, as God has permitted us.

Way back in 1993 at the Convention of The Redeemed Christian Church of God Camp, our Father in the Lord, the General Overseer, Daddy G.O. declared, that in the coming years, God would raise some professionals to do His works in some unique ways.

It was like the message was directed at me, I accepted it, even though I did not really understand how I could fit in.

I had been a Journalist, just a reporter and researcher as we were tagged where I worked then. I was a reporter at the now defunct Newbreed/President Magazines, published by the late Chief Chris Okolie.
From there I left with some of his editors to work at the newly established Viva Magazine. From there to Money Minder and later to Financial Update Magazines. I couldn’t really understand the forces that kept me jumping from one organisation to the other. But at the end of it all I kept on gaining experience.

Back to the prophecy and Daddy G.O.’s message were the events of 1993 and 1994.

Nigeria conducted Presidential election in 1993, one of the most regarded as freest in the history of the country’s elections. There was a presumed winner which Nigeria believed they elected by choice but the powers that be would not allow that. That was the late Chief MKO Abiola.

The stalemate and annulment snowballed to serious political crises of 1994 that kept many Nigerians at home, indoor and I happened to share that experience.
While at home I kept on tinkering with the idea of what was dropped in my heart. What was in my heart those days was to start a Christian Publication, most especially to do something about Gospel Artistes, Singers and Drama Ministers.

I began with News gathering. Through my brother Evangelist Ojo Ade, I was very close to the Gospel Singers and the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria then.

Through him I met the likes of Rev. Sola Rotimi and Gospel Choral Records, a marketing outfit for gospel music.
While at home I had started compiling my stories. I was compelled to do some stories from interviews I watched on Television and Radio then.

Another thing that got me convinced was that most times I tried to watch TV or listened to radio, it would be gospel messages that would come on air, and those ones helped me to do my stories.

While we remained indoor, I finished the compilation and by my little experience I took it to computer operators and printers. The paper was rolled out of John West Printing Press owned by the late former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande. That was Saturday 10th September 1994.

It fell on one of a fellow brother and town’s man’s wedding. I had to leave his wedding event to head to the press to see the paper.
That was how the long journey began.

It could be anything but smooth. The journey has not been smooth at all. It has been an up and down journey. A kind of journey to the unknown. But we thank God for His faithfulness and for sustaining us.
It is a vision I absolutely commit myself and entire resources into. God has made us plant the seed and it has grown for the Christian world to benefit from. It has grown from a black and white tabloid now to a colourful news publication.

So far so good. We have been able to work on a project that has put Christians in the news prominently for positive reasons. We have covered small and big events, we have had interview with the prominent and the not so prominent, we have been able to help to break denominational barriers among Churches, some other promising Christian publications, independent newspapers and magazines have join the fray, and we believe we still have a lot to add to the body of Christ.

Even where we are, we are still confronted with similar challenges confronting the present business environment in Nigeria – High cost of production materials, lack of reliable hands to work with, and financial inadequacy. There is also the challenge of unfaithful ministers of God that relate with us. I can easily remember many of them that sit on the money of PTL News and refuse to pay, while some others underpay us. But God, our sufficiency remains faithful.

The journey, of course is still long and we are hopeful of the great rewards to come. We are also conscious of the need to gradually switch over to online publications. We have started this with our website, and we expect our regular readers and subscribers to follow us.

Gospel reports will ever remain evergreen. There are plenty of land to till, and several stories, events and Testimonies to be written.

We therefore wish to ask for more of your prayers, supports and contributions in moral and financial terms. We also wish to plead with well meaning Christians across Church denominations to come to assist the vision, by placement of adverts, special reports and coverage of their programmes and events with due payments following it.
Our God will continue to bless them as they do so.

Let me take this advantage to thank all those that God has used at different level or the other to come to lift the banner of PTL News. You are now so uncountable to be listed. We pray that by the time we write our stories, your space will not be missing therein.

Soon, you will still hear from us of how we plan to celebrate it, especially in a time that we shall be planning of celebrating it’s three decades in a couple of years to come. We will all be alive to be a part of it in Jesus name.

Once again, thank you for being there. May you be richly blessed. To God alone be the glory. Let’s Praise The Lord. Halleluyah!
