Beloved, Once again this is that time of the year we all love to take stock. It is the time we often like to think of harvest, when we discover the good the bad and the ugly. It is time to look into an outgoing year and to look into the future in the coming year. It is also a time to appreciate the situation and people around us.
First, all the glory and honour belong to God for counting us to be among the living, for it is only the living that can thank God. I would not take that for granted. I am very grateful to God despite the challenges, with what we see and hear, He has kept us going on our feet. That is enough for us to appreciate God.
In the outgoing year we have travelled very far and wide, we go out daily and come back only because we have been enjoying His protection. He keeps us safe, He provides for our needs and He does not allow any evil to befall us. It is by His mercy that we are not consumed. Praise be unto His name.
As we thank God we cannot but express our thanks to many people, and several of you there that the good Lord has used for us in the course of the year. Looking into our records many people have also given us reasons for our existence in doing what God has called us to do. They make us to achieve the purpose of our creation.
We have moved the course of our life on, individually and corporately in the year and several of you here have made it wonderful. You are our friends, you are our brothers and sisters, you became our mothers and fathers, albeit spiritually, you are our advisers, teachers and even students, patrons, counsellors, prayer partners known and unknown, and we can testify that we feel your prayers and genuine concerns for what the Lord is doing by our hands. I mean the project of PTL News. We say, Thank you.
Should we go on to be mentioning names, you will be uncountable, and in the course of the counting, many of our good people could be left out. But fact is that whoever is privileged to read this would have a conviction in his or her heart of what kind of a friend he or she is to Brother Julius as a person or PTL News as a ministry or organisation.
We say this year 2022 has been very eventful. We can recall with nostalgia how the year then started. Everybody would like to build on his current record and my desire at the beginning of the year was to see to the new opportunities which some people came to advertise on the media either social or public. I tried some of them it ended in some lessons.
The beat still goes on. We had wonderful events, giant strides, outings and publications that we can be proud off in the course of the year. But this did not last long when the unpredictable shock of government’s harsh economic policies set in. Very hash indeed. We had to battle with inflation. Prices of paper and costs of production went almost beyond reach, and we have to forge on. Once again, thanks to God for making a way.
We may not be able to fully express our appreciation without mentioning those people who were used to teach us some tough lessons. Under this harsh survival we had some people who gave us works to do and refused to pay despite that they had no problem to make the payment. They just wanted to show us that they were powerful. But they are already in the hand of God. He knows how to take care of that. Yet the way for us has been progressive forward movement. Praise God.
We cannot but mention some new efforts made in the course of the year.
Knowing that where the world is now is the digital space we need not to be caught unaware, and I also made up my mind to take a dive of the opportunities. Here too there were some lessons learnt. Earlier in the year, as some of us might be aware of a website owned by PTL News, www.ptlnewsng.com.ng, we were doing well with it until when it developed a problem and every effort made to rectify it was made impossible by the developer, we had to abandon this and went for another one. That one also developed a problem.
I later discovered that most of these self-styled young web developers are only there to rip off. They do not want any of their unsuspecting clients to know the truth. They would not like you to know, and any efforts made to ask any question would be curtailed and be resisted.
I then took up the challenge of knowing it. I have to appreciate a colleague who helped me see through the one we are using now, even though not perfect, it gives us the identity we need online. We hope to improve on this as we move forward.
Then I began to take the learning opportunities online to fill the void in what I was supposed to know in the digital space, and which goes on my line of calling. Presently, I have learnt some things about Copy Writing and Graphics designs. I have also done some studies on Business Plan Writing and Project Management, and anytime I choose to do any of these, you should know that I am doing what I know how to do.
Let me take this advantage to tell all readers of PTL News that the whole world is on digital lane and your soaring PTL News should not be left behind. Therefore in the coming year, we are going to move more towards the digital space.
The importance of online publishing cannot be over emphasised. It is very quick and fast, it is relatively cheaper and goes very far beyond where hard copies can reach.
Looking into my projections for 2023 by the grace of God you will be seeing me and your dear PTL News more in the digital space. Our resolve from the beginning of 2023 is that whoever wants to appear in PTL News hard copy newspaper should be prepared to take responsibility and our term will be pay before service, because we do not want to drag the name of our God in the mud via indebtedness.
Yet, I cannot but remember some losses I suffered towards the end of the year when I lost two of my close friends and companions. The news got to me almost at the same time and they almost got me emotionally destabilised. May the souls of Dr. Eso Dada Gabriel, an old school mate, that of Dr. Fidelis Nwankwo a man I worked with early before PTL News, and later of Pastor Biola Longe, also an old publisher of a Christian magazine, rest in perfect peace, as I pray that the Lord keep and sustain their families.
2023 is here with us, by the special grace of God. What do we expect? We must express our excitement about the year. For Nigeria, it is an election year, and we pray the election will be peaceful. For Nigeria we pray that the good Lord stop the antics of the wicked killers ravaging Nigeria, and use the incoming government come May 29, 2023 to bring peace, unity and prosperity in our land.
Let us also take this advantage to let you know that we are already thinking of the three decades of PTL News. By the grace of God PTL News will be 30 years in 2024, and we want to put all hands on deck to have a result oriented and God exalting celebration. The awareness starts from now. Kindly keep us in your prayers, do not withhold your counsel from us, and we beseech you to continue to remain a blessing to us.
God be with us all. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance.
