Apostle Isaac Omolehin in Lagos, Replies Critics, Speaks on How he copes with Criticisms and Persecutions in the Ministry

If you call him, The Man of The Moment, particularly in Christian circles, you will not be making mistakes. For sometimes now Rev. Evangelist Isaac Omolehin has been at the centre of many controversies paricularly online. In what appears like stirring the hornest’s net, the 74 years old Ilorin based global cleric, Rev. Evangelist Isaac Omolehin stirred some controversies in Christian circles in Nigeria.

It began with the claim that the umbrella body of the pentecostals in Nigeria, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria denied him an opportunity of the fierry cleric to minister at the 40th Convention of the body in Abuja. There were other accusations he alleged against the Christ Apostolic Church and the death of one of the founding fathers in person of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, then his vitriolic attacks against some pentecostal Churches, then his recent claims that the PFN has instructed his members not to allow them to preach in their churches as far as Canada and Cape Coast, South Africa, and several others. Some of these have either been denied or attracted apologies.

Then the forces against him also began to build up, and there came counter accusations against him. Some came out to say Baba Omolehin has divorced his wife, others brought out images and clips of his old Church that went up in flames.

Papa Isaac Imolehin was recently physically available at the annual Convention of Apostle Olu Johnson’s Great Commission Bible Church as one of the leading guest speakers at the Ministers’ Fire Conference. There was no doubt that he came loaded and he was ready to answer any probing questions of any inquisitive members of his audience.

Earlier in his lecture he has mentioned some of those popular claims, accusations and counter accusations bothering on his personal life and ministry.

He began his message from the popular Great Commission in Mark 16:15 where Jesus sent out His disciples and all believers alike to go into the whole world and make disciples of all nations, which Baba Imolehin simply interpreted as the only instruction and command given to all Christians.

He read it out, “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” he then said, that was the instruction Jesus handed out to his disciples,” as he asked, “What other assignment did Jesus give outside the preaching of the gospel?”

He answered,” Jesus came and preached repentance quoting Matthew 4:17 and Romans 1:16″, he was very fast to warn detracors, saying, “Don’t try to adjust the message of salvation. Don’t leave out the essence of the message of the gospel. It is the only thing that can bring salvation.”

He continued, “Don’t follow commercial gospel. You have been warned. This is why many don’t like Isaac Imolehin. I am not saying you should be poor, but what the bible says “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness…..should be honoured. If prosperity is salvation, Dangote would have been saved. We need to train ourselves on the management of the message of the gospel. Its main essense is for salvation.”

TV Licence
He also took the advantage to announce his recently obtained broadcast licence.
“I got alert this morning that the Federal Government has approved my TV licence, the same thing with AIT, Arise, Channels. Men of God I did not struggle for it. Those who applied have not been given. It may interest you to know that I have been preaching in Kwara State for over 30 years since 1993. I preach on three Radio Stations.

“I wanted to retire and I asked God to give me a radio station, they gave me radio station and they asked if I needed a TV station, and they have just approved that. Thank God we did not abandon the message of the gospel of salvation to pursue earthly riches. Many have abandoned the message of the gospel to run after earthly riches. Where are many of them now? Who told you that you need to commercialise gospel before you prosper?” He quoted Revelation 18:11- 13 again.

He continued, “Those who don’t like Isaac Omolehin would just die in vain. The name of the TV station is Puritant Radio where holiness, santification, and salvation will be talked about. Somebody should be talking about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Let them be counting money, I will be counting souls.”

Concluding he said, “If we fail to preach the true message of the gospel, we are playing with fire and we will be joking with heaven,” quoting Rev. 22:17.

Questions and Answers
In the questions and answer session that followed, Baba Omolehin was asked how he remained focused in the face of all the mounting criticisms against him and how he didn’t feel bitter by the enmity against him.

His answer: Bitterness left my life in 1972. No one of you can offend me again.

He was also asked about the allegation of divorce of his wife, and he answered again; “I married my wife in 1982. My marriage is 43 years. I have children and grand children. My wife is in my house till now. Those are all kinds of lies to destabilise and distract or scandalise me. It is too late for that.

“How do I hear all these and still remain focused? I was at the crusade last night, were there no results? They did it to Jesus. The attack on me on Social Media is normal I don’t need to react to them.

When he was advised to not to attack personalities and institutions, he answered again.
“I cannot afford to do with message that does not address institutions and persons. Jesus talked about institutions. He talked about the Pharisees and the Sadducees.

“Presently, I have lost 50% of my friends and those who follow me. I am not moved, and I don’t even have time to call those who want to be my friends again.

The house of God must be purged
“The house of God must be purged, the house of God must be cleaned and that is why I cannot keep quiet. We have heard that Gay Churches have started in Lekki, Lagos. They will soon get to the mainland, then to Ibadan and other parts of Nigeria. They are not Catholics, not Anglicans, they are pentecostals.

“All these are happening because some people choose to keep quiet. That was how the Church in England died. People should realise that what I am doing is for the interest of the next generation of Christians. Allow me to talk. It is not about convincing everybody but to call everybody to the evils in our days.”

Also in his remarks, his host Apostle Olu Johnson who described his guest Evangelist Omolehin as a man raised for a time like this said, “Nigerian Christians should not allow the spirit of the end time divide us. Let us continue to pray for ourselves and one another. If there is nobody like Baba Omolehin about now, many people of God might be led astray.”
