Family, Church Battle Over Control Of Late Founder’s Church

Family, Church Battle Over Control Of Late Founder’s Church

There is a raging battle in Iseyin, Oyo State between the family of late Prophet Moses Akande Adewuyi aka Maadan, the founder and the Spiritual Head of C&S Oke Alaafia in the heart of the town.

The Church was founded by the late Prophet Maadan who died in 1972 about 50 years ago.

Trouble began when the children of the late founder who were very young at the demise of their father came back years later to call for a proper organisation of the Church with acceptable standards, preparatory to the celebration of the 50 years’ remembrance of their father.

According to the US based Bishop Michael Adewuyi, one of the children of the deceased, “We felt the need to properly get the Church organised within the legitimate and acceptable worship standards under the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Authority, as laid down by our late father and founder of the Church, Prophet Moses Adewuyi.

“It is a fact that our father died while we were very young. By the time we grew up we discovered that many of the practices of the current Church leaders were not in agreement with the acceptable standards of C&S Church.

“Besides, the Church for a long time has been enmeshed in serious leadership crises, so much that they have not been able to have an acceptable leader since the demise of the founder almost 50 years ago.

“By October this year we want to mark the 50th memorial service and Celebration of the life and times of our late father and Church founder. It is on record that we marked this last year November.

“After this we noticed that some elements within the Church were no more cooperating with us in putting the Church to a proper perspective. We called and made arrangements but they would not like to see or hear about the founder’s family.

Bishop Adewuyi further explained that all efforts to solve these matters were never appreciated by those who claim to be the leaders of the Church.

“This took us to some people we see as leaders and followers of late Prophet Maadan but we could not have any amicable solution.

“Surprisingly, what we saw was that the current leaders in the Church began to change many things we could refer to as the relics of the founding father. They have removed Prophet Maadan’s name and picture, and they have even changed the name of the Church.”

On what were the line of arguments of those holding claims to the current leadership of the Church, they are saying their fathers were part of the founding team which according to Bishop Adewuyi they could not substantiate.

“We see what they are doing as an attempt to erase the records of Prophet Maadan from the history of the Church and perpetuate themselves which are not acceptable to the family of the Church founder,” explained Prophet Adewuyi.

The struggle to bring back the name of Prophet Moses Adewuyi to the fore front has been supported by many of the remaining disciples of the late Prophet, and they have joined the family to lead a protest to the Agelu supervisory authority of the Church calling them to do something before the issue gets out of hand, as this is what they believed could stop the battle between the two spiritual families.
