The renowned preacher, spiritual icon and a mentor to many, Evangelist Segun Ilesanmi of Evangelist Segun Ilesanmi Outreach of 25, Thomas Salako Street, Ogba bus Stop, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday 19th July 2024 clocked a land mark age of 90. Even though there was not so much noise about it, there are indications that his close followers celebrated him with honour, pomp and pageantry.
Writing about this spiritual icon, Barry Jesus a foremost gospel Fuji music minister wrote in a tribute, Who is Segun Ilesanmi? He is a renowned evangelist, he will clock 90 years of age on the 19th July 2024. The man belongs to the olden day apostle in the act and practice. His focus is on open air crusade themed “God Heal Our Land.”
“He is so passionate about the well-being of souls. Unlike most men of God that derive pleasure in wealth acquisition, Evangelist Segun Ilesanmi has his major investment on open air crusade. At 90 years of age, he is very popular for the work evangelism preaching on land and on air as time and space permit him, telling the truth without mining whose ox is gored.
His passion in seeing people triumphing in prayer moved him to embark on project prayer site called Takuology Prayer Mountain at Ejigbo Lagos.
His radio program of over 50 years has not gone on leave for just a month since the inception. He is known as the man that was distributing flyers on airplane whenever he wanted to stage a crusade in those days.
Just to mention a few of his exploits in the kingdom, his crusade spanned through the USA, United Kingdom, Europe and most African countries, and in every nook and cranny of Nigeria.
Also writing in a glowing tribute Gibson Dammy Ilesanmi wrote, “The journey to 90 years has been God Almighty, through thick and thin you have consistently walked with God even when there was no hope of tomorrow. But see this God, faithful God, the only True God. Thank you for the life of your son Revd. Segun Ilesanmi my very own Daddy, lover, gist partner, boyfriend and prayer warrior. This is just the beginning daddy, and until the last breath Jesus remains your back bone.”
In the words of Bamisile Victor Femi, he wrote, “Happy birthday daddy. God has satisfied you with long life. God greatly bless and keep you healthy always sir. Continue to be a blessing to us sir. We love and appreciate your hard work sir,” as Araoye Priscilla Kenny wrapped it up in this way. “It’s SAW’s (Senior Advocate of the World) day! Happy 90th birthday sir. I celebrate you greatly sir. Your existence in our time is of great privilege that we really do not take for granted we love and appreciate you sir.
At 90, Papa Ilesanmi is still very strong, vibrant, preaching the message of the gospel.
