For an umpteenth time, Pastor Gideon Obiwale the man popularly known as Oyinbo Jesu is back to Lagos. He has just been returned to the commercial city of Lagos after six years outpost to Osogbo Osun State capital.
Pastor Obiwale who was transferred by CAC authority in January from his former CAC Latona Osogbo base has been making marks among the ministers and members of his new Church. He now presides over Kosofe Districts Coordinating Council as the Superintendent.
Speaking on Sunday July 31, 2022 at the annual thanksgiving service of the DCC, Pastor Obiwale charged the congregation on the theme of the celebration which was Abundant Grace.
According to him, abundant grace could be described as exceeding grace, or a kind of grace with a very high standard based on one’s connection with God.
He said “if you are not close to God you cannot hear from Him.”
He added that “grace of God works on two things. First is our way of life and the second is our ability to utilise the grace God has bestowed on us to make our spiritual journey very easy.”
He told the congregation to make the best use of the grace of God in their life warning that whatever position one is in life without living with the dictates of the grace was a wasted life.
How Christians can live and enjoy abundant grace of God in their life.
This was part of the message delivered by the new Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church Kosofe DCC, Pastor Gideon Obiwale at the celebration of the annual thanksgiving service of the DCC held on Sunday 31st July, 2022.
Pastor Obiwale speaking on the theme of the service, Abundant Grace told the congregation of what to do to benefit fully from the grace of God.
The cleric who began by defining the theme Abundant Grace as a kind of exceeding grace received from God to be fulfilled in life called on children of God to make sure that they should not stay away from using the grace of god to get fulfilled in their area of operation.
According to him one of the ways to enjoy abundant grace of God is by getting close to Him in the word, by reading one’s bible and acting accordingly, noting that only when one is close to a person is when the secret can be known.
He said, “There is no favour without connection with God. If you are not close to God, you cannot know His plans for you.”
The cleric who also explained that the grace of God works on two things said, “It depends on our way of life, and the power and grace of God given to us to live among unbelievers to believe in God,” adding that “abundant life is a life that values God,” quoting Romans 6.4 and 2 Corinthians 1.12.
Explaining further he said, “Grace of God if well utilised makes spiritual journey very easy.” He was quick to warn that Christians should submit themselves to the will of God at all times.
“Whatever you are in the Church and if you cannot comport yourself to the will of God you are just wasting your time,” he emphasised. “You must be able to search your heart to know whether you are serving God or not. Ask yourself, does your conscience tell you that you are living within the grace of God? What glorifies God and make Him happy is your transformed life.”
Pastor Obiwale who commended the Church for their godly character pleaded with them to continue to abide in the love of Christ in their relationship with one another.
“What I saw in this church makes me happy. I can see the glory of God in you. As a people we can argue, we can debate but we should not fight. That is the way to demonstrate the grace of God to unbelievers.
He further urged the congregation to continue to show the grace of God wherever they found themselves.
“As a Christian we must show people that we can be trusted. What is the value of a child of God who is employed to work in a place but could not trusted,” adding that many people want to employ Christians into their places of work but their character would not allow them.
He therefore charged them to go and demonstrate abundant grace by going to live to show the love of God in all that they do, have the right and good relationship with God, saying, “ability to live godly life is to have the characteristics and nature of God.”
The DCC Superintendent also charged the people to go and continue to live in total obedience to the will of God in their lives.
“Total obedience or compliance to the will of God is to have abundance of the grace of God. If you are very gentle in the things of God, some people may misunderstand you for foolishness. It takes the grace of God to forget about the mistakes of the past. It is because Abraham had that abundant grace that he was able to obey God without complaining.”
Pastor Obiwale also noted that many people have lost many things because they are not sensitive to the voice of God for their life because they don’t value the grace of God upon their life.
He also charged the members to demonstrate humility in order to receive wonderful gifts from the Lord citing Hannah, the mother of prophet Samuel he said, “If Hannah had not been humble she would not have been able to receive the grace of giving birth to one of the prominent prophets in the bible,” urging them not to respond to all issues that do not concern them in the church.
Many people he noted do not know how to leave ministers of God in the hand of God. He told them not to always react negatively to all things as only God can mediate and judge fairly. “When we have abundant grace of God in the church, peace will also reign in the church.”
He also told ministers of God to be mindful of what they do in the management of the affairs of the house of God and wherever they are placed to work. He noted that God does not joke with His grace but they should be humble enough to relate well with the people God has raised for them.
Immediately after his message was a session of prayers and revival handled by Prophet Rotimi Arowolo who led the congregation in hot and fervent prayers.
