A special Praise concert is billed to hold for Bishop Funso Awe on Sunday 13th November, 2022 at Chapel of Christ The Light, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State. Programme starts at 2.00pm.
The programme will feature the band of The Chapel of Christ the Light and others.
Biography
Bishop Funsho Awe is a passionate Lagosian born on Friday the 9th of November 1962 at Somolu Health Center, Odunlami Street, Somolu (Now Somolu General Hospital).
He grew up living in various part of this State of aquatic splendor and interacting with the people and the environment.
He started his education at Methodist Primary School, Mushin. He had his secondary school education at the prestigious C.M.S Grammar School, Bariga (Nigeria oldest secondary school) and Anwal-ul-Islam College (Ahmadiya College) Agege respectfully.
Funsho Awe holds a Bachelor of Art (Hons) Education in Fine and Applied Arts (Second Class Upper Division) from the University of Benin and a Master of Education (M.Ed) in Educational Management from the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.
He equally holds a Diploma of Theology of the Lagos Anglican Seminary where he had his seminary education as a priest and he is also a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
Venerable Awe worked as a classroom teacher with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and taught in Sari-Iganmu Secondary School, Orile-Iganmu and Vetland Grammar School, Agege.
He cut his political tooth when he was elected into his Local Government Council (Ikeja/Agege Local Government Council) as a Councilor in 1988. As a Councilor, he served in various capacities which included Supervisory Councilor for Education; Member of the Finance and General Purpose Committee; Chairman of the Local Government Education Committee and several standing and ad-hoc committees in Ikeja and Agege Local Government.
Bishop Funsho Awe is a senior priest of the Anglican Church, he has served in various leadership positions in the church of God and has benefitted from several leadership training and management courses both within and outside the country.
He served as Chaplain to the Government of Lagos State and the Presiding Chaplain in the Lagos State Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, where he excelled as a spiritual leader of the state. He equally served Lagos State for several years as a member of the state Christian Pilgrim’s Board.
Funsho has been involved at various time along with The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in Elections Sensitization, Mobilization, Monitoring and Observation in Nigeria. He is currently the General Secretary of Civic Consciousness Initiative (CCI); a body of Leaders that advocate truth and righteousness in governance.
He is also the president of Logos Christian Development Centre, a trustee of an NGO-Taking All Men Brothers (TAMEB) an organization devoted to inter-faith unity. He is widely travelled and had served in The Anglican Church of the Redeemer, Regina in the State of Saskatchewan in Canada.
Bishop Awe has zero tolerance for corruption and has dedicated to entrenching righteousness, transparency and accountability in governance, he is an avid reader of books and an author who is an advocate of social welfarism.
He was once the Gubernatorial Candidate of National Conscience Party (NCP) in Lagos State for 2019 General Election. He emerged as a lone candidate at the party primary held at Logos Centre Oregun Ikeja Lagos on 22nd September, 2018.
Funsho Awe is happily married with two grown up children.
