Salome Oguche Foundation Launched

A special Foundation has been launched by the children of the late Pastor Michael and Deaconess Salome Oguche in memory of their mother.
The formal launching took place on Wednesday, 27th July 2022 at Life-Gate International Bible Ministry, as part of the annual Celebrating Jesus Conference to mark the birthday of the Senior Pastor in charge of the ministry, Rev. Levi Adegbe. It was held at 19, Alimi Oke Street, Orile Oshodi in Lagos.
The event which was attended by the children and family of the Oguches was presided over by the host minister Pastor Levi Adegbe who was equally celebrating his birthday on that day. It was also attended by other ministers of God who were Pastor Adegbe’s partners in the ministry.
The Oguche siblings lost their father on June 26, 2006, few days to his 50th birthday, and their mother on December 20, 2020 after the lockdown, 13 years after her husband’s death.
Later in an interview with Mr. Aduojo Uneku Oguche, the first son of the family, said the foundation was to awaken the memory of their mother Deaconess Salome Oguche, who was a very caring mother, a woman with a big heart opened to everybody that came her way.

The foundation according to them was to touch people’s lives and restore hope to the hopeless all over the world.
“Our mission is to touch lives here in Nigeria and beyond. We are determined to helping students to develop themselves, from helping schools, building schools in communities where they don’t have schools, helping hospitals, touching lives of prisoners and the less privileged, talking to people, changing lives, and touching the lives of widows, and we will take this to our place of birth in Kogi State and even where our mother came from. We are trusting God to do remarkable projects in the memory of our mother, in the land.”

Rev. Levi Adegbe, the host minister in his remarks said the launching was held as part of his annual event to celebrate his birthday noting that the event was to celebrate a three-in-one activity – his 65th birthday, 37th Wedding anniversary and launching of Salome Oguche Foundation, with Friends of Widows Forum which has been held for 22 years.
He explained that “Out of the multitudes you saw here today only five are members of our church, the others came from different places and faith background including Christians and Muslims.

He commended the Oguche children “for appreciating that their mother was a member of this church, and they want to use our platforms to remember their mother. Seeing their children coming back here to remember their parents is by special grace of God.”

According to him, “The most important aspect of life is to touch other people’s lives. Through our NGO many of the widows have been impacted, and we have been used to help them physically and spiritually.”
In the words of Divine Oguche, one of the children, “We are doing this to encourage widows not to lose hope over their children. They need to make all the necessary sacrifice to educate their children. One of the legacies left for us by our parents is education and the other is the word of God,” as he called on government to priortise education in Nigeria.

The programme was attended by distinguished ministers of God and friends of Pastor Levi Adegbe among which were Pastor (Mrs) Tinu Odugbemi, of Head High International Organisation, Pastor Amen Nathan, Pastor Mrs. Taiwo Agboola and Pastor Mrs Femi Joseph who also shared word of God and gifts at the event.
Various gifts of cash, clothing, and raw food were distributed to the beneficiaries. The projection was 100 but the participants were more that 200 at the end of the day, and no one left empty handed.

The siblings were all there to honour their parents. These were from the eldest Uneku, to his younger ones, Matthew, Mike Oguche Omale, Ezekiel, Joy, Deborah, Joseph, James, were there with the grand children.
Also in attendance were their friends from their home stead with Engr. Joshua Onoja, Pastor Sunday Omale, Cousins, uncles, friends and colleagues, as well as friends from the University of Benin.

The children in their remarks prayed that “through the Foundation God will use it to restore hope to many,” as they advised young Nigerians “never not to lose hope from wherever they are starting from,” and promised to go the extra mile to meet the needs of those that were invited for the programme next time they want to hold a similar event.
“I am sure our parents will be happy today as they are resting in the Lord,” remarked one of the children.
