There are three stages of ministry that everyone in ministry has to understand. The scripture below shows us the stages .
(Luke 8:17).
“For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad”
(1) THE HIDDEN STAGE. In this stage of ministry the ministry is hidden from the people as God calls and prepares the minister for ministry. Jesus spent the first 30 years of his life hidden and it culminated in his time in the wilderness. His calling and purpose though known to him was hidden from others including his family.
This stage is unfolded in four levels.
A. The calling level. At this level the minister received the call of God to the ministry. This may be through vision, dreams, impression etc
B. The motive level this is when God purifies the heart of his minister by examining his motive. The purpose is to adjust his motive and purify it.
C. The seed level….The minister will be required to make major sacrifice for his calling.This is where many fail as they are unable to let go of certain entanglements that God will require of them to let go
D. The understanding level … At this level God will give the minister more understanding of his calling or assignment and begin to give his key people revelation and understanding of the vision that would translate into followership.
(2) MULTIPLICATION STAGE …At this stage the ministry begins to move into multiplication. People in the area which the ministry is located will begin to associate with the ministry. Leaders begin to multiply and the ministry begins to gain followership. At this level ministry also encounters persecution, controversy and sometimes blackmailing.
How you handle this stage will determine if the ministry will enter the next stage or stunt it’s growth.This level requires supernatural wisdom and divine direction.
(3) THE ABROAD STAGE….At this stage the fame of the ministry spread abroad and the ministry gains worldwide followership and affiliations.
This stage has two levels
A. Influence level ….The influence of the ministry spreads in the body of Christ, in government and in society. The ministry becomes a voice to be reckoned with in the scheme of things. This stage is the shortest stage as the ministry may have achieved what God intends.
B. Finish level … At this level the ministry becomes monument, a worthy reminder of a specific movement or impact. At this stage mantle may have been handed over to another ministry to continue or build upon.
The understanding of these stages will help you to chart your course and pay the required price to move from one level to another.
