Samuel Akinade Badekale, the celebrated overall best graduating student of the University of Lagos’ 55th Convocation Ceremony, has reached another historic milestone.
Badekale, has been announced as the only Nigerian and West African selected for the highly competitive Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s program in Biomembranes.
Earlier this year, Samuel made headlines after graduating with a perfect 5.0 CGPA in Cell Biology and Genetics, a feat that earned him the title of UNILAG’s overall best graduating student among 16,409 peers. His latest achievement further cements his reputation as a scholar of rare brilliance and global promise.
Sharing the news on his official X account, the 22-year old Samuel wrote: “2025 has been amazing in every way! Pleased to announce the next step in my journey: selected as the only Nigerian & West African for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Biomembranes, studying across three world-class universities in France, Italy, and Germany.”
The programme, which attracts top-tier students worldwide, will see Samuel pursue advanced research and studies across leading European institutions while receiving the prestigious Erasmus scholarship for 24 months. Excellence pays.
His story of excellence continues to inspire not just his family and the RCCG community but also countless young people across Nigeria and beyond. Samuel represents a generation proving that faith, diligence, and academic pursuit can open doors to the global stage.
Badekale, is a son of Pastor Femi and Assistant Pastor Mrs. Nike Badekale of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). He attributed his success to his faith, discipline and service, saying “My success is not just mine, it belongs to my community, my country and the young people that look up unto me.”
