A group of Yoruba broadcasters in Nigeria under the auspices of Yoruba Broadcasters Association, is set to storm the Yoruba speaking community in God owned country of the United States of America in what they call Yoruba Cultural Heritage and Presentation of Awards.
The event holds for two days, on Saturday and Sunday October 25 and 26, 2025 at Christal Garden Event Center 14702, Lindita Dr. Houston, Texas, in the United States of America.
According to the organisers, the event is expected to have His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Festus Adekunle Adeyemi, the Alakola of Ikola Ijesa Kingdom, of Osun State of Nigeria as the Royal Father of the day, Prince Dr. Abiodun Badewa as the Royal Prince of the day, and Deacon Owolabi Oladejo, the CEO of Amutajero and Impact Television, Ibadan as the inauguration Speaker.
Other key personalities expected are Apostle Henry Abayomi Odeneye of Dagunduro Prayer Mountain, Kirkwood Houston, Texas as the Patron, and Alhaja Titilayo Sanusi as the Matron.
The International body also has some of its members in Nigeria and they are represented by Omo Oba Funso Ademigbuji, Deaconess Funmilola, aka Laafin Ara, and Otunba Jare Ayo Martins, the General Manager of Ilesa, Osun State of Nigeria based Uniq FM and Ominira TV.
YBA is presided over by Olori Olufeyikemi Godwin Owoade aka Kakaki Olodumare as the president with the assistance of Alagba Paul Arowolo as Vice President.
Speaking through an information made available to PTL News, the President, Olori Olufeyikemi Owoade said the Association was founded in the US in order to present and promote Yoruba culture in the country and other parts of the world.
“We believe that because we are outside Nigeria, we should not forget our mother tongue. We are here to encourage every born Yoruba person, men and women, young and old to continue to speak Yoruba language, freely so that our language will not go into extinction.
“Yorubas are known with their culture, and that earns us respect and dignity from all and sundry, and we want to make sure that we practice our culture and traditional values, here in America.”
These according to Mrs. Godwin include Wedding ceremony, naming, our hair do, greetings and respect for elders, to our different drums, their beating and dancing, stressing that “We will not only promote the culture but we are available to train those who want to know more about it. Our culture is our identity.”
Apart from holding lecture, there will be opportunity for producers and marketers of Yoruba traditional materials to come and display and market their products and services at the event, as members have already arranged for uniforms to wear for the event.
